The ability to make another person feel seen, welcome, and valued is either present or it is not. We can teach clinical protocols and operational systems. We cannot teach someone to care about the person standing in front of them. This is the first filter, and nothing compensates for its absence.

Ownership instinct

The person who notices what needs to be done and does it without being asked. A reflex for gaps, not a tolerance for them. If something is wrong and it is within reach to fix it, it gets fixed.
